Summary

This bill authorizes the President to award the Purple Heart to Louis Boria, Jr., for injuries he sustained during World War II and the Korean War while serving as a member of the Marine Corps. The authorization allows the award notwithstanding the standard criteria established in Executive Order 11016, meaning it permits an exception to normal Purple Heart eligibility requirements. The Purple Heart is a military decoration awarded to members of the Armed Forces who are wounded or killed in action. This bill is a special authorization for a specific individual to receive the award based on his service and injuries during the two wars.
