To provide for the rescheduling of marijuana into schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act.
Summary
This bill directs the Attorney General to reschedule marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act within 60 days of enactment. Schedule III classification means the substance has accepted medical use and lower abuse potential compared to Schedule I drugs. The rescheduling would override the normal administrative procedures for changing drug classifications.
