Ending Qualified Immunity for ICE Agents Act
To end qualified immunity for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Summary
This bill eliminates qualified immunity protections for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in civil rights lawsuits. Under current law, federal officials can claim immunity if they were acting in good faith or if the law wasn't clearly established at the time of their actions. The bill removes these defenses specifically for ICE agents, making it easier to hold them liable in civil actions for constitutional violations.
