A BILL
To amend the Communications Act of 1934 to increase the penalties related to intentional disclosure of nonconsensual intimate visual depictions, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the “Responding to Exploitation and Sharing of Private Explicit Content and Threats Act” or the “RESPECT Act”.
SEC. 2. INCREASED PENALTIES RELATED TO INTENTIONAL DISCLOSURE OF NONCONSENSUAL INTIMATE VISUAL DEPICTIONS.
Section 223(h) of the Communications Act of 1934 (47 U.S.C. 223(h)) is amended—
(1) in paragraph (4)—
(A) in subparagraph (A), by striking “2 years” and inserting “5 years”; and
(B) in subparagraph (B), by striking “3 years” and inserting “10 years”; and
(2) in paragraph (6)(B)—
(A) in clause (i), by striking “18 months” and inserting “3 years”; and
(B) in clause (ii), by striking “30 months” and inserting “5 years”. <all>
