Summary

This bill amends the Internal Revenue Code to allow individuals eligible for Indian Health Service assistance to open and contribute to Health Savings Accounts. Currently, individuals with comprehensive health coverage are generally ineligible to use Health Savings Accounts, but this bill adds an exception for those receiving hospital care or medical services through the Indian Health Service or tribal organization medical programs. Under this change, such individuals will not be considered as having disqualifying health coverage solely because they receive Indian Health Service benefits. The amendment applies to taxable years beginning after December 31, 2024.
