To provide penalties for certain misconduct by officers and members of the board of directors of nonprofit entities, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would impose financial penalties on nonprofit organizations whose officers or board members are convicted of federal crimes related to rioting or assaulting federal officers. Specifically, nonprofits would become ineligible to receive federal funding and would lose their tax-exempt status if a current or former officer or board member is convicted under federal law of inciting a riot or assaulting a federal officer, provided the criminal conduct occurred while that person held the nonprofit position. The penalties apply only when there is a conviction and the conduct is connected to the individual's service in the nonprofit leadership role.
