Summary

This bill amends Medicare law to revise the definition of clinical social worker services under the Social Security Act. It removes the restriction that limited clinical social workers' services to the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses, thereby expanding the scope of conditions and settings where they can provide care. The amendments also clarify that related services and supplies furnished as part of clinical social worker services are included in the definition. These changes would take effect on December 1, 2025. The bill broadens the role of social workers in the Medicare program across various health care settings.
