HR 416 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
No Welfare for the Wealthy Act of 2025
To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to close the nominal benefits loophole.
Summary
This bill would amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to modify eligibility requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The amendment would require that all households meet both the income and resource criteria to receive benefits, eliminating what the bill describes as a "nominal benefits loophole." The change would take effect one year after the law is enacted and would not apply to existing certification periods that began before the effective date. The modification establishes stricter eligibility verification for the program.
