Summary

This bill repeals Section 1093 of title 10, United States Code, which currently restricts the Department of Defense from using federal funds or military medical facilities to provide abortion services. Current law permits abortion only in cases where the mother's life is endangered or in cases of rape or incest. Repealing this restriction would allow the Department of Defense to use its funds and facilities to provide abortion care to military servicemembers and their families. The bill would give the military medical system the same flexibility as civilian federal healthcare systems regarding abortion services. The bill does not establish new programs or additional funding; it removes an existing statutory limitation on DoD's use of existing resources.
