Summary

This bill would amend federal law to allow health records related to substance use disorder medications to be shared with state prescription drug monitoring programs when state law requires such disclosure. Currently, federal privacy protections restrict certain health information, and this bill creates an exception specifically for substance use disorder medication records going to state monitoring systems. The change only applies when state law mandates the disclosure, giving states flexibility to set their own reporting requirements.
