HR 3595 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Safe Prescribing Through Reporting Act of 2025
To amend the Public Health Service Act to provide for the disclosure of certain records relating to substance use disorder medications to State prescription drug monitoring programs, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would amend federal law to allow health records related to substance use disorder medications to be shared with state prescription drug monitoring programs when state law requires such disclosure. Currently, federal privacy protections restrict certain health information, and this bill creates an exception specifically for substance use disorder medication records going to state monitoring systems. The change only applies when state law mandates the disclosure, giving states flexibility to set their own reporting requirements.
