Certified Nursing Assistant Workforce Improvement Act
To direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to adjust certain training requirements for certified nursing assistants in nursing facilities and skilled nursing facilities.
Summary
This bill directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to revise federal regulations governing the training of certified nursing assistants in nursing facilities and skilled nursing facilities. Currently, federal regulations require that a registered nurse supervising certified nursing assistant training must have experience in long-term care facility services. The bill would change this requirement so that a registered nurse supervising such training needs only a minimum of two years of nursing experience, regardless of whether that experience was in long-term care settings. The change must be implemented within one year of the bill's enactment.
