To amend the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to modify standards for general service lamps, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to remove general service incandescent lamps from federal energy efficiency standards and regulations. The bill eliminates the energy conservation standards that were established for incandescent lamps and terminates three Department of Energy rules from 2022 and 2024 that set efficiency requirements for general service lamps. It makes conforming amendments to other sections of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to reflect the removal of incandescent lamp coverage. The effect is to remove federal regulatory requirements governing the energy efficiency of incandescent light bulbs.
