HR 3233 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Historic Battleship Preservation Act
To repeal a provision of law preventing donation by the Secretary of the Navy of the two remaining Iowa-class battleships listed on the Naval Vessel Register and related requirements.
Summary
This bill repeals Section 1011 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1996, which had prohibited the Secretary of the Navy from donating the two remaining Iowa-class battleships listed on the Naval Vessel Register. By removing this restriction, the bill allows the Navy to donate these historic battleships, presumably to organizations or institutions interested in preserving them.
