Latest action (Nov 2, 2011) Referred to the Subcommittee on Technology, Information Policy, Intergovernmental Relations and Procurement Reform .

Summary

This bill repeals Section 526 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. That section had restricted federal agencies from purchasing fuels derived from unconventional sources like tar sands or oil shale if their greenhouse gas emissions were significantly higher than conventional petroleum. After repeal, the federal government would no longer be subject to that restriction on fuel procurement.
