HR 3092 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
To repeal authority for administration of an au pair program by the United States Information Agency.
To repeal authority for administration of an au pair program by the United States Information Agency.
Summary
This bill repeals the authority of the United States Information Agency to administer an au pair program, effective October 1, 1998. The bill repeals Public Law 104-72, which had authorized the USIA to oversee and administer the au pair exchange program. An au pair program typically allows young foreign nationals to work as live-in childcare providers in American homes in exchange for compensation and cultural exchange benefits. By repealing this authority, the bill removes the federal government's authorization for the USIA to continue managing the program.
