Veterans’ Transition to Trucking Act of 2025

Introduced Apr 17, 2025

Latest action (May 20, 2026) Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

Summary

The bill amends federal veterans law to allow the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to directly approve multi-state apprenticeship programs offered by commercial truck driving schools for VA educational benefits purposes. Currently, state approving agencies handle approval of educational programs for veterans' education benefits, but this amendment creates an exception allowing the Secretary to serve as an approving authority for commercial truck driving apprenticeships that operate across multiple states. This change enables veterans to access VA educational assistance while enrolled in these multi-state trucking training programs without waiting for individual state approvals. The modification streamlines the approval process specifically for apprenticeships in the commercial truck driving industry.
