New England Coastal Protection Act of 2025
To prohibit oil and gas leasing on the outer Continental Shelf off the coast of New England.
Summary
This bill would amend the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to prohibit the federal government from issuing any oil and gas leases on the outer continental shelf off the coasts of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The prohibition would apply to all future leases for exploration, development, and production of oil and natural gas in these New England coastal areas. No leases could be issued in these regions regardless of any other provisions of law that might otherwise authorize such leasing.
