District of Columbia One Vote One Choice Act
To amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to prohibit the use of ranked choice voting in a District of Columbia election, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill would amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to prohibit the District of Columbia from using ranked choice voting in any District of Columbia election. The prohibition would apply to all elections for public office in DC, including federal office elections, as well as to ballot initiatives and referendums. Under ranked choice voting, voters rank candidates in order of preference, and the bill would prevent DC from implementing this voting method. The bill makes conforming amendments to the Help America Vote Act to incorporate the new prohibition.
