HR 1921 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Hearing Device Coverage Clarification Act
To direct the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to clarify that fully implanted active middle ear hearing devices are prosthetics and are not subject to the hearing aid coverage exclusion under the Medicare program.
Summary
This bill directs the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to clarify that fully implanted active middle ear hearing devices are prosthetics and are not subject to Medicare's hearing aid coverage exclusion. The clarification must be issued within 60 days of the bill's enactment. This would allow Medicare to cover these implanted devices as prosthetic devices rather than treating them as excluded hearing aids. The bill defines prosthetics according to existing federal regulations governing medical devices.
