Protecting Federal Agencies and Employees from Political Interference Act of 2025

To require that the headquarters for any entity of the Federal Government located in the National Capital region shall remain in the National Capital region unless relocation legislation is enacted, and for other purposes.

Introduced Mar 3, 2025

Latest action (Mar 3, 2025) Referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Summary

This bill requires that any federal agency or entity headquartered in the National Capital region (Washington DC area) as of the bill's introduction date must keep its headquarters there unless future legislation is enacted to approve a relocation. The bill also requires that any federal employee position with a duty station in the National Capital region as of the introduction date must remain stationed there unless legislation is enacted approving relocation. The bill effectively freezes the current locations of federal agency headquarters and employee duty stations in the DC area, preventing executive action alone from relocating them without congressional approval.
