Employment Services and Jobs Parity Act

To amend the Wagner-Peyser Act to include the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa, and for other purposes.

Introduced Mar 3, 2025

Latest action (Mar 3, 2025) Referred to the House Committee on Education and Workforce.

Summary

This bill amends the Wagner-Peyser Act to extend federal employment services to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa, territories that were previously not covered by the act. The bill adds these territories to the definitions and unemployment compensation law requirements under the Wagner-Peyser Act. The bill establishes funding provisions for these territories, stipulating that beginning in the first fiscal year when total allotments exceed fiscal year 2025 levels, each territory will receive an amount equal to half of what Guam receives in federal employment services funding. The amendment ensures that these two U.S. territories receive federal employment services support and related funding comparable to other territories already covered by the Wagner-Peyser Act.
