Summary

This bill amends the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act to include harmful algal blooms as a type of major disaster. The amendment adds algal blooms to the list of events that can qualify for federal disaster relief and emergency assistance. This would make communities affected by harmful algal blooms eligible for the same federal disaster assistance programs available for other major disasters like droughts.
