HR 1601 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Defending Ukraine’s Territorial Integrity Act
To counter Russian influence and aggression in Ukraine.
Summary
This act establishes U.S. policy that it does not recognize Russian claims of sovereignty over any part of Ukraine occupied by Russian forces, including Crimea and specified oblasts. The bill prohibits federal funds from being used to provide assistance to any foreign country that recognizes the independence of, or establishes diplomatic relations with, Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories. The Secretary of State must publish a list of such countries on the State Department website and report to Congress. The Secretary may waive these restrictions if determined to be in the national interest, with justification provided to Congress.
