Parental Oversight and Educational Transparency Act
To amend the General Education Provisions Act to require parental notification and consent with respect to certain activities, and for other purposes.
Summary
This bill amends the General Education Provisions Act to strengthen parental notification and consent requirements for school activities. It requires local educational agencies to directly notify parents at least 14 days in advance of specific activities and obtain written parental consent before students participate. The provision builds on existing notification requirements in federal education law by adding an explicit written consent requirement. The bill applies to activities specified in the law, with the 14-day advance notice and written consent requirement intended to ensure parents have adequate notice and control over their students' participation.
