HR 1406 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Lung Cancer Screening and Prevention Act of 2025
To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to authorize the coverage of additional lung cancer screening tests under the Medicare program.
Summary
This act amends Medicare to authorize coverage of additional lung cancer screening tests beyond those currently covered under national coverage determination 210.14. The Secretary of Health and Human Services may provide coverage for other lung cancer screening tests that are cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration as preventive services. Coverage decisions for new screening tests will use Medicare's standard national coverage determination process, with the Secretary determining appropriate individuals, frequency, and payment limits. The amendments take effect upon enactment and apply to Medicare Part B coverage.
