Protecting Arizona from Federal Land Grabs Act

To amend title 54, United States Code, to prohibit the extension or establishment of national monuments in Arizona except by express authorization of Congress, and for other purposes.

Introduced Jan 3, 2025

Latest action (Jan 3, 2025) Referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources.

Summary

This bill would amend the Antiquities Act to require express congressional authorization for the establishment or extension of national monuments in Arizona. Currently, a similar restriction applies to Wyoming; this bill would extend that same restriction to Arizona. The specific amendment adds Arizona to existing language in federal law that limits presidential authority to create or expand national monuments without Congress approving the action.
