HR 1037 Introduced Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Voter Eligibility Verification Act of 2025
To require the Secretary of Homeland Security to promptly comply with State requests for information regarding the citizenship status of an individual.
Summary
This bill amends federal immigration law to require the Department of Homeland Security to respond to state requests for immigration status information within 15 days. Specifically, the bill requires DHS to provide immigration status information for individuals on a state's list of potential voters when requested by a State's Attorney General or Secretary of State. The provision clarifies that states can request this information to verify voter eligibility based on citizenship status. The 15-day deadline applies to all such requests submitted by state officials.
