HCONRES 40 Passed House Re-checks Congress.gov for new actions and updates the bill's status, and fills in any sponsors, committees, or related bills that are missing. It does not re-pull sponsors/cosponsors/committees/related — those rarely change — and it skips all work if nothing has changed upstream, so it's cheap to click.
Directing the President, pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution, to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities with Iran.
Directing the President, pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution, to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities with Iran.
Summary
This concurrent resolution directs the President to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities against Iran under the War Powers Resolution. The resolution permits military forces to remain only to defend the United States or allied nations from imminent attack, subject to War Powers Resolution reporting requirements. Any such defensive military operations would require either a formal declaration of war or specific congressional authorization for military force against Iran to remain lawful.
